MedMatrix – fractional CO2 laser wavelength is 10600nm, which mainly used for gasifying the skin tissue, the principle is based on the theory selective photothermolysis. Water in the skin is the mainly target of the fractional CO2 laser, after absorbed the energy of the laser, water will release heat, evaporate and gasify immediately. Naturally the cutaneous lesion will be eliminated flashily.

It is arguably the most versatile and useful of all skin rejuvenating lasers. This laser by-passes the top layer of the skin (epidermis) and targets the deep layer (dermis) in which there is collagen and other elements that make for good quality skin. The laser heats this layer to an optimum temperature which stimulates it, so promoting remodeling of the dermis to produce a better-quality skin.

Details

The fractional CO2 laser takes the CO2 laser beam and fractionates, or pixelates that beam into thousands of tiny little shafts of light. These tiny shafts of light penetrate into deeper layer of the skin. The skin then repairs those tiny shafts by pushing out the old damaged skin and replacing it with new skin. The “collateral” heat damage also helps to shrink existing collagen.

FAQ

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Bear in mind that the treatment can be customized. Treatments can be deeper, with more healing and downtime, or shallower, with less healing time. The deeper the treatment, the better the results generally. But some patients prefer two treatments that aren’t as deep so they can avoid a lot of downtime.

You will see some immediate results but you won’t see the full results for 3-6 months. After your skin heals, which may take up to 3-14 days, there will be a period of 4 to 6 weeks after that when your skin might be slightly pink. During this period, your skin will feel smoother and looks less blotchy. As the color returns to normal, you will see fewer lines, less blotchiness, and more glow.

WHO ARE SUITABLE CANDIDATES?

It can range from the younger age group with fine lines, to the older age group or those with sun damaged skin with deeper wrinkles. Fine lines are abolished while deeper lines are softened.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The number of CO2 Laser Resurfacing treatments you will need is based on your individual skin and your aesthetic goals. Some may require as little as 1 treatment to achieve their desired results, for others it may take several like 3 to 6 treatments to achieve their goals.

WHAT POST-TREATMENT CARE IS NEEDED?

There is a list of post-procedure care instructions that will be reviewed at the time of your consultation. Patients will also receive a copy of take home instructions. These instructions include proper times to ice, apply ointment, a list of medication to take, and when you should contact a doctor.

WHO SHOULD AVOID FRACTIONAL CO2 LASER TREATMENTS?

Patients with hypersensitivity to light and in invisible, infrared wavelength region, patients taking photosensitive or anticoagulant medication, patients who have used Accutane within the past six months, patients with seizure disorders triggered by light, patients that are pregnant, patients with the history of skin cancer or exhibit suspicious lesions, patients that have received gold therapy, patients who have a history of immune disorders or healing problems
